Books Shield Immigrant Kids
Standing behind a shield emblazoned with the image of a hero of the Haitian Revolution, this Haitian American boy holds back harm.
He made the hero shield with Haitian American author Francie Latour and her social justice organization, Wee The People.
Side-by-side with Francie Latour at this (and many events this year), I’m Your Neighbor Books came to understand that books are also a shield—protection from the harm caused by anti-immigrant and anti-DEI words, policies, and actions.
I’m Your Neighbor Books placed
5,700+ books as shields in 2025.
Help us continue to provide books to
immigrant families & service providers + educators.
