Brooks Memorial Library
As Brattleboro welcomes refugees and as the region diversifies through immigration, we need to build our welcoming skills. A unique project, founded by Brattleboro native Kirsten Cappy, Maine librarian Kate Cutko, and a group of immigrant leaders, is using picture books with both children and adults to change the conversation on immigration. Cappy and Cutko will share how the Welcoming Library, a collection now housed at Brooks Memorial Library, creates an an environment of welcoming and belonging through the sharing of family stories.
